Has anyone upgraded there LT500 foot peg mounts?
#1
I have an 87 LT500 and have been replacing the stock foot peg bolts for years because the bend, I am a 200lb rider. The stock bolts I have been buying are a metric grade 5 bolt from suzuki, the last set I got from a nut & bolt supplier and there were a metric grade 8 bolt. They dont bend like the other ones did but now my mounts on the frame (clutch side) are starting to bend. Has anyone upgraded there mounts? I have a pretty good idea how I want to do mine, I just would like to hear some other ideas, Thanks

I have had the same problem with the Stock Bolts. I broke the stock ones right off when I flew over a witch's eye wide open in fourth gear!!!
I switched to grade 10 and have had no problem since. I make sure their tight each trip.
I tip the scales at 320lbs....

tip or squash?
I need some peg treatment, too. My brake side was stripped out on one hole and the bent bolt broke off in the other. Now I have these big *** bolts holding that side on that look like railroad spikes

I bore and retapped the holes on the footpegs to 14mm bolt, I also cut the pegs from there backing, lowered and moved back 1" both ways, and reenforced them with 3/16" angle iron under each peg, I'm at 320, no bolts broken, and no bent pegs for over 8 years on the bike, also it handles way better to add.
