Got new Eiger today and got a nice surprise

Eigerbeaver, the first thing you need to adjust the valves is the tool. It is simply a lil screwdriver that goes through a socket. Basically what it does is allow you to set the screw thingy and hold it while you tighten the retaining nut. And you need a feeler guage. Its possible to do but harder without the tool. I think there may be enuf room to use an open end wrench.
Its simple to get to and only takes a little elbow grease to get the job done. Pop off your side plastics and the tank cover (2 lil screws holding the shift **** on-very tiny). Unbolt the shifter. Then pull the gas tank off, you'll have to pull a little hard to get the tank out but she will slide out. I usually zip tie the crossmember to the handlebars on the R side. the caps will be looking back at you. Take the timing plug out and turn the motor intil it is on a compression stroke and at TDC (alil line will show up in the window). This is easier with the plug out. Then check em.
Chances are that they will be okay. The main problem I had was junk in the carb. It clogged the jets and started running bad.
Before you put the tank back on install an in line fuel filter!
Since there isn't a dealer near you I would suggest you get a service manual. If it costs $100 its worth it, but it prolly run about $40. I'm not sure if the clearances are in the owners manual and my book is down in the barn and its raining right now. I'll get em for you later if you need em.
I would recomend the Suzuki filter at first since you only have 140 miles on er. If something goes wrong the dealer will blame it on the filter no matter what the cause. After yer warranty is up then try a Fram. I think the Eiger uses the same filter as the Vinson, sv1000, gsxr1000, and the sv650. They run about $15 (why?????).
DON"T GET ONE FOR YOUR WIFE!!!! Give her yours and get YOU a Vinson!

Thanks for the info. The wife wants a quad with less power than the Eiger(WHY???) But Yes i was thinking of a Vinson also. BTW, do I just cut the fuel line in half and install an in-line filter.?

Hey Don or Eiger2 . My 04 Eiger kept stalling about every 3 miles )occasional backfire prior to stall. Would cycle fuel valve to restart .
Checked plug ( not fouled) I assume it's in the float bowl (am I correct)?

wait, it could be a kink in the breather hose that runs from the carb to the lil hole in the plastic byn the air box under your seat. Check the vacum line from the carb to the petcock.
