Default Water Pump - 87-92 quadracer help.

Does anyone know if you have to split the cases to install the water pump oil seal and mechanical seal? I haven't got it apart enough yet to look and I don't know if I should order gaskets yet.

Thanks for the help guys. I hope the oil seal is the only problem. I was getting a lot of coolant in my gear box. Are there any other seals that the water/oil could come through?
