The kits are alot of money but well worth it. The yoshi kit is a stroke kit so the cases have to be split, so it is a time consuming job. The motor is alot faster after it is done and can keep up with 450 yamis and hondas. I did a 440 kit that is very simmular to the yoshi kit and it rips. Im very impressed with it and im sure you will be also.

Sorry guys for the long delay on this post didn't get a chance to get to the internet today becuase i transferred to another dealership and have been learning all the new rules and procedures ..

anyways i finished everything on the Z early Sunday morning and decided to take it and the YFZ out for some play time .. bad news though can't out run or even hardly hang with the yfz but it doesn't seem to be dialed in to the best settings yet .. gonna take it to the mechanic and let him play with it a little. however i did manage to smoke a few piped Z's and a 416ex ( or so the owner states...who knows )

Also got to race a 450R with the YFZ too.. which i also lost to by a bike length or so .. ( owner wouldn't state what mods other than the hmf pipe kit he had )

other than that the kit is great hopefully i can get it tuned enough to wipe that smile off the guy's face when i can keep up with or even out run his shiny new R .. Anyways its bed time gotta get up Really early to go over the new computer systems. I will try to give another update once i get it dialed in a little better ~ Peace

well you said that you dident do a carb on your new motor that is probally your biggest weak spot tho the motor now if you do that it makes a big difference. Did you kit come with a ported head? I tell you what yfz you and I talked in another forum and You saw that other people witnessed me taking a few yfz450s Im not claiming to be the fastest but that motor can be built to be faster then them. And the 450s had some mods. I dont know if you remember that conversation? Anyway its a great motor I hope you get it tuned right I dident go with the yoshi kit But mine is simmular I did alot of head work on mine and I dont remember if the yoshi kit came with that or not. Let us know how you make out its to bad it only hangs with piped bikes hopefully you can feel what the real power that motor can make is.

CARB CARB CARB!!! I'm telling you the stock carb cannot keep up!! I tell you what, since you also have the Yamaha 450, take the FCR carb off that, and stick it on your Z just for a little experiment. If you can tell me afterwards that it didn't make a huge difference, I'll never recommend a new carb again.

The reason I preach a new carb so much is because I used to be in your situation, a big bore with the stock carb. Once I put on the FCR40mm and dialed it in, it was completely different.

I have a 41mm fcr and it made the world of difference. I will never put the stock carb back on the machine unless its stock again. it made a huge difference. I was impressed its so true the carb is the difference.

I have the parts Department ordering me a new 41mm Carb next week

Starting to wish that i went with the Duncan 470 kit though becuase it came with one !!
Oh yeah to answer some questions .. i sent the Head & Cylinder in and they bored and ported it as part of the kit wasn't a bad deal if you ask me ..

I have never ridden a Z-450 with the Yoshi kit but my friend has a TC 450 kit. He also runs the FCR 41mm carb and that thing is a monster! It's real fast but it's not usable power. At anything over half throttle it just spins. He has a one inch extended Lonestar swingarm and Razr tires. It hauled when he put on some MXR's though. He needs to get a new radiator for it, the fan never stops running.

Heres the deal, the yoshi 450 kit is supposed to make 55hp at the rear wheels and about 45hp if you are using the stock carb. I called them and they told me to use a 47mm carb. I would just pay the extra doe ray me and had them do it them selves. I have always wanted to do the yoshi untill i got my nos. Now i take em like its no problem.
