Eiger fuel guage--should it be off center
#1
Got on the eiger yesterday and looked down at the fuel guage and it was not centered in relation to the hole in the plastic. Tank and all plastic was tight. Looks like the fuel guage part shifted toward handlebar or the tank plastic shifted back toward seat. Couldn't remember if it was always like this so that is why posting. Is your fuel guage pod completely centered in the hole? Thanks
BTW bought an in-line fuel filter. Do you just snip the fuel line running from the fuel cap(under the plastic of course) and attach it there or is there a better place.

Mine was slightly offcenter. If ya just glance at it, you would never notice.
As far as the inline filter goes, yep, just snip it an put it in. Make sure you look at which way the flow goes.

Mine is also off center to the front and left. I DID notice that when I bought it new. So, must be a manufacturer's tolerance issue. Being off center and all, I am happy with how accurate and stable it is.
Lovin my Eiger!

I think they put it off center on purpose so you bring it back to the dealer for some $180 service.
Every eiger I've seen is that way. Wait until you hit something rather hard on the front guard just inside the headlight.
I think it is done so it can be read from the seat since it is recessed so far.

i guess they are all that way mine is also off centered. i think your looking at the wrong place to put your fuel filter the hose comming out of the fuel cap is just a vent hose doesnt go anywhere, but you will figure that out the first time you put gas in it.

eiger44, yer pretty sharp. I didn't really pay enough attention to his post. It looks like he may be talking about the vent tube.
The filter goes in the hose that leads from the petcock to the SIDE of the carb. You should be able to see it when you look from the left side.

Yea, I hadn't inspected the tube off the gas cap b/4 posting. Installed it off the fuel regulator in a minute. Simple and effective mod. Thanks for the replies. Guess I don't have to disassemble the quad to get the pod to line up.
Next mod is to attach the Redington Model 51 hour/tach meter. Very simple to. Just wrap the wire around the spark plug wire 4-5 times and attach the unit to the black base where the speedo is. Hours are a better indication of service times than miles I think.
