Default Who can tell me a bit about rear shocks.

'92 LT250r, I think mine is starting to leak. I just had it rebuilt last year, so I imagine it needs a new shaft because the old one chewed up the seal. Can anyone tell me the make and model, if there is one of this shock? And where might I find parts for it?

Thanks

Rodney, try a search on here. I saw a thread about the rear LT shock a week ago or something like that.
Also, just a thought, but you may be able to pick up a cheap one on Ebay or go aftermarket with Works for a fairly affordable shock.

Using the internet I discovered its made by KYB (Kayaba). I just can find anywhere to get a price for a new shaft. Any ideas?

You should let the pressure out of the rez if the shock is leaking oil. There's a bladder that gets stretched out if there is no oil to compensate the pressure.

I sent my original rear shock to MX tech to be rebuilt because it was leaking oil. They told me the shaft had a spot of rust and needed to be rechromed. The rechrome was 150 and they never mentioned the possibility of getting a new shaft. They assured me that it would be as good as new but I opted for a newer shock that had comp and reb adjustment. I don't know how good their chrome shop is but I've never found anything rechromed to be as good as new.
