With the 13t on 1st is useless , I only use it for the dunes and if I am going to be dragging alot. Other then that I keep the 14 on.

Example of why I don't like the 13t : One of my friends has a piped 400ex with same suspension/arm set up as mine. Racing in the desert or carving the dunes I can be topped out in 5th pegging the rev limiter and he is still in 4th gear.

I do a lot of WFO desert riding and the only advantages to the 13t is climbing cause the 13 will allow you to climb in 3rd or 4th when the 14t calls for 2nd and sometimes 3rd.

If you don't top out 5th alot then 13/41 will work for dunes and will be awesome for an MX track.

Yea I haven't really found a ridding place that lets you streatch 5th gear out.
When I drag with the 14 front I start in 2nd anyway. But theres always that little bog during the 2nd gear wind out. With the 13 front 2nd should rip on the starts and the bog should be gone.
I duno till this weekend...

Hmm what about useing the 41 rear with the 14 front?

You will notice more with the 13 front , dropping a tooth in the front is like going up 2 teeth in the rear.I meet a guy with a 13/42 and he informed me that he could go up comp. hill Dumont in 4th with no problem. I can not fouch for him cause I never seen him run , just going by what he said.

I can say that I was trying a double that he was clearing with no problem, I was having a hard time clearing the landing lip. There is a whooped out section right in front of the double which killed my 3rd gear causeing me to go up the launch in 2nd. He was hitting 3rd and 4th.

I wanted the pretty gold chain and sprocket set but to much $$$ at this time for my wallet.
I forget what brand it was...plus I found out all the places I dug up on the net nobody had colored sprockets for atv's nor did they sell chain sprocket sets with 13/41 gearing...you had to buy indivualy. There was only one place that sold a gold sprocket.

KFXCarnage,

You could always send your sprockets and chain and get them powder coated. I am not sure about the chain though.

I find that hard to believe unless your friends Raptor is trashed. I have personaly GPS a 2003 Raptor at 83 mph.(sea level, cool day, piped and jetted, no internal mods.)
