Default z250 help! go faster

Like i told someone else....a simple way to go faster is to switch your rear tire's from 20's to 22's
this will give you more top speed, and you prolly wont notice acceleration losses.

I have a twin air filter for my kota, and it made some difference....I've had it for almost a year and the filter is still in like new condition

but look into the tire change......easiest way to go faster...the bigger the tire...the faster she'll go

I've got a suggestion,
GET A BIGGER/BETTER/FASTER QUAD rather than trying to soup it up.

Default z250 help! go faster

I just bought a z250 yesterday. I bought it so I could ride with my kids (bought them a 90cc the day before). In the "olden days" I had a kx500 and a mess of streetbikes. (Had to sell my yzf1000 to get the z) Admittedly I find the z to be lacking in the power department, but my long-term plan is to have my wife riding it (the z) and step up to a Kawi 700 perhaps. For now - it is plenty to run with the kids and will probably be a good long-term playbike for anyone that wants to throw a leg over it.

In any event - This thread is interesting, but I'd like to see somebody who has done some mods bring some more specific focus to it. What I mean by that is this... If you were starting over, what mods would you do, in what order and from what suppliers would you get the parts.

Pipe, Jetkit, Airfilter seems to be the common answer here and there is some discussion on brands, but I am wondering about "bang for the buck". If I can get 80% of the bang with the pipe, then I would like to know where to order it from (online vendor).

Thanks In advance!

In all honesty, at this point in time there really isn't anything out there that is going to give you a Huge increase in power for the Z250. There are pipes, filters and other look good items out there, but nothing that is going to make your Z250 compete with larger displacement quads. The Slip-On's as well as the complete systems don't require jetting changes, which tells me that there isn't going to be the "more air in, more air out" that is required to make any kind of significant increases in HP. We have a Yoshi slip-on on our Z250, and it definately wakes the little 250 up, but we are talking maybe one or two HP at best. But hey, they look cool and sound great. Getting more power isn't gonna increaes your top speed only acceleration. If you want to go faster you need to buy things for your tranny, like sprockets, chains, ect. Renthal sells good crap for that. I put on a sprocket to go with my power on my 86 LT250r and i can go around 85 mph, although i am a alittle scard to go that fast in 5th again!!!!!!

Z250's are Shaft Driven, no chain or sprockets.
