actually, it does prove you as the owner, as it has the VIN on it. Even though it doesn't have your name, it's like a 'bearer bond', where possesion is proof. But, you're right, I have my receipt in a safe, separate location to support my claim, but all of that doesn't beat having good insurance if it's stolen... which it won't be! (hope I'm not inviting bad luck)
