20 hour maintainance for Vinson 500???
#1
What exactly does this "maint" consist of...i was told its mandatory...and its 250 bucks to have your valves adjusted after 20 hours of initial riding..
I'm new to the ATV crowd...not new to small motor repair etc etc...just wondering if this is something I should do myself...
Also had a couple of questions regarding K&N oil filters and air filters for my 03 vinson 500 and my friends 03 vinson...(was about to hit check out online but figured id ask the pros first)..
thanks

a valve adjustment usually isnt needed... id change the oil... and when your motor starts to tick... the valve's are off... but usually on a utility the vavles stay pretty good...
the airfilters are great... once your stock one gets ruined... buy a k&n... cleanable and will last a long while if taken care of... and they add a little more flow...
the oil filters are fine too... usually alot cheaper than stock... and they both do the same thing.

and how much did it cost you to have that done??
i was told about 250 bucks..which seems steep to have someone change your damn oil and tighten a couple of bolts..
do they mess with your steering etc etc??
im not worried about the warranty...its not much of one anyways.

It will cost me $169.84. I am going to go ahead and bring it in because I was thinking of purchasing the extra 4 yr warranty. Plus I think my shifter is a little out of adjustment. I can slide it into High just fine.. it feels like it seats right in but when I go up to Low it doesn't really seat in, just sits there. Some times I have to push it a few times to get the L indicator to show up on the display. Is yours like this by any chance? I guess I'll be bringing mine in this week because I hit the 104 mile mark yesterday.

well mine has about 85 miles i believe...20 hour mark was reached but mostly idling..
anyways mine doesnt have a shifter problem...my friends 03 does constantly tho..
how much is the 4 year warranty??

Just a little over $600. Alot of my buddies have fourwheelers and told me that if I ever do have any problems that I would probably pay that the first time because of high labor costs. Seems like a good investment to me especially with all the digital stuff.
