Reverse Override on an Eiger?
#1
I have been on quads that have a reverse override, and think it is a really nice feature to have. Does anyone know if you can add one to the Eiger, or just rig something up? Info on how they work would be nice, also.

Yes, it can be done. I don't know if the dealer could or would do it, but I've done it on mine. I'm just hoping that I don't burn up the cdi. When I get some riding time in I'll let ya all know how to do it. In the meantime you can look at the wiring diagrasm and figure out what the white wire and the blue with a red tracer are doing. I am not sure how the reverse override works, all I know is that when I press it, the machine acts like I have a turbo charger!
I want to know why it isn't always like this, and why I have to press a button to get the power???

Because without the rev limiter it runs like it has a turbo!!!!!!!!
The limiter kicks in before something spectaculrly bad happens! (ok, I cant spell). This is a pain tho when you need the power to get out of a hole. On the auto it will run almost as fast backwards as forwards.
The override keeps the limiter from coming on. Many manufacturers put a button on the bars for this purpose. Suzuki doesn't because it costs money and they are trying to meet certain price points.

I have a friend with a Prairie400, which has a reverse override. I have ridden his and have found it to be very useful. I have been in situations with the Eiger when I REALLY needed those tires spinning in reverse to get out of some mud. I managed to get out, but the override would definitely have helped. Without an override, the tires don't spin fast enough to clean out the tires.

Vinson581 posted a site that explains the reverse limiter. It is in the tech tips section of atvnation. It should be the same for the eiger. It looks pretty much like what I did, same wires. I used a switch so I could turn it on or off as needed.
