it should be the same, i have mine"limiltless" all the time, that way i dont have to push a button when getting stuck, i can concentrate on trying to steer the quad in reverse with the locker(DGL) lol

Lets start with the limiter first. When in reverse, most quads use what is called a rev limiter to keep the rider from going to fast and crashing in reverse. Sometimes, you need more power to go backwards. Thats why you use a reverse override. It overrides the rev limiter and lets the engine have full power in reverse.
It doesnt cost much money at all to have these installed at the factory. But it is a safety issue and they may not think it necessary on a 400cc class quad.

Just the other day I remembered this thread and tried to find the 'limiter' when I was in reverse on my Eiger... I went pretty damn fast at high RPM and there was no sign of a limiter. Suppose in 2004 this was eliminated?

I suspect the limiter is only in the Auto's. I also have a manual and have no problem with the amount of power in reverse, which would be limited by the gear ration of the manual in reverse. An auto might just shift up and keep accelerating.
