Just bought an '87 quadzilla that supposedly had the top end rebuilt with less than an hour on it. I took it down to the sand dunes for the first time on Friday, putted around half throttle until I went through a tank of gas. Then I started giving it more throttle and climbing bigger hills for a little while. Went up Sand Mt.(UT) a few times(killed my friends raptor w/ 686 kit and what not,) and then one time up Sant Mt. it just died. Sat there on the hill kick starting forever, then pointed it downhill and tried to pop start it. Finally when I was almost to the bottom it started up again and I rode for a little while not thinking much of it. Went fine on flat ground and mild hills, tried climbing the Mt again same thing same exact spot just died. Couldn't get it started, went back to camp, pulled the plug, it was very dark and seemed to have a lot of excess burnt oil/gas on it. Put a new plug in, rode it around for 20 minutes, it died on my way down the Mt. Couldn't get it started, pulled the plug again and looked the same. Didn't have any extra plugs so thats where that story ends(I'm sure you're happy...lol)
Anyway, the kid I bought it from never took it to Sand Mt. so I'm thinking it needs to be jetted. I dont know much about these things so what do you guys think? Also, after the "break-in" period it seemed a lot easier to kick the kick start. I can push the kick start down with my hand, is that normal?
After I get this problem fixed I'd like to buy a new set of paddles cause the ones that came with it are missing several on one paddle, what size is the best to get and how many paddles? I'll be using it primarily for straight lines and I like the Haulers that came with it, they are just missing a few paddles like I said earlier.

Unfortantly if you can push the kicker down with your hand you have a problem. I had the same problem once, my engine had to be rebuilt
As far as paddles go I run a 22x11x8 8 paddle skat trak hauler and get great hookup and acceleration.

Sounds to me like it needs new rings. You shouldnt be able to push the kicker down with your hand. There are 2 rings on a 2 stroke pistion. One of them maybe seized into the pistion causing week compression. I would do a compression check on the motor.
