The 91-92 are the most desired LT250's....They have the best linkage system of all the years. Just look for worn out bearings...and How rough does it look? Like if the guy is askin a lot it isn't worth it, but if its goin for cheap its worth stickin some into it. Ask if you can take it for a spin and see if it feels tight and straight or loose and all over. Feel/listen for any abnormal vibrations and sounds. See how the shocks are. Does the engine idle or at least run.
Hope this helps

I ride a TRX250R but I have heard to look out for cracks on the LT250R frames. I would check for cracks where the front and rear shocks mount, where the motor mounts are, and where the a-arms bolt up. These are some of the most highly stressed areas on a race bike.

Tru that 1BAD250R, Mine just cracked at the up front shockmounts. You will also want to put the quad up on its rear and look on the under side especially on the frame under the footpegs, mine cracked there also. Mines welded up now though. Mine is an 86, I heard that 91-92s were gusseted much better and welded much better on the frontend that the older years but I would still look at those places.

Thats not to say that the Suzuki's are the only ones with cracked frames. My TRX has had some welding but you have to expect that from a bike that is 18 years old. I like all of these new quads coming out lately....it's great to see our sport's poularity rising. But personally, wether its a TRX250R, an LT250R, a Banshee, or a Tecate, there is nothing like riding a 2-stroke.

You sure are right about 2 strokes, I don't know if it's the smell, the sound or the power....and todays youngguns don't know what pure raw 2 stroke power is...unless they grew up around or on them like me. I am 20 as of January-04 and I grew up on snowmobiles which are 95% 2 strokes. I got my first quad about 5 years ago it was a '89LT250S Quadsport it was really cool to have a quad and all but there was and still is hardly any aftermarket for them, so I wanted somethin else. And me knowing lil ta nothin on quads then, just went with my brand loyalty .....Suzuki. I got my 1986 Quadracer for $800 it needed some TLC(which I'm doin at the moment). It is a rocket now, this may sound hard to believe but Sunday I took a Piped Z400 and a piped predator in a drag and I had $hitty tires. All I got done to the engine is LRD pipe and .040over bore, with stock carb, porting and reeds. I am pretty even with my buddys 440ex racer now.

I am REALLY sorry to get off subject Canadianracer....IF you got any questions about the quadracer just post it even if its a stupid question...the guys here on the forum are really helpful, there is a vast amount of knowledge on here.

I'm 20 yrs old too and I grew up with my step-dad buying three brand new trx250r's so thats where I got my brand loyalty from. I sure wish he had saved me one of his but it makes me feel good knowing I'm riding a machine that I paid for and built up myself.
