Default Quadzilla questions

Well all, just got mine running today, a few questions for you guys..

The exhaust valve tension ****.. what affect does it have on the motor running in either direction, and whats the best way to go about setting it?

Motor vibrates pretty good, new crank bearings, crank was rebuilt not long ago, piston and rings at .080 over. all mounts are tight, pretty sure the counter balancer is timed right, maybe its a zilla thing?

What do you guys think?

Spring tension on the exhaust valve dictates what rpm the valve operates.
The factory setting is as follows: From zero spring tension (Take cap completely loose to make sure no tension is on spring) turn cap 1 complete turn counterclockwise and lock it down.

You can play with it a little either way to fine tune it...

If your motor is vibrating alot, you'd better look at the C-balancer timing again. Something is wrong... there are 3 dots to align, not just two (Common mistake)
Do you have a manual? I'd suggest getting one.. They cost around $50 but will serve as your bible for this machine... don't wrench without one.

There will be a little more vibration than other machines due to the rotating mass of this engine... but it shouldn't be substantial.

Good luck!

Could you please go into detail on the 3 dots for timing the counterbalancer? I definetly remember 2, not sure about the 3rd. Thanks for the help so far.

The motor has 20 mins on it..lol, will definetly pop the clutch cover off and take a look at those timing marks. Will definetly buy a manual eventually, I'm so excited to see that its almost done! and running! I bought it blown up about 4 years ago. I've rebuilt quite a few engines before, and I dissesmbled thisone about 3 years ago and it sat apart for a while, probably why I didnt notice the timging gars being off. Thanks for the help

PM, The cylinders have been known to break. I don't fully understand your question I guess... the stock cylinder can be reinforced by beefing up the rear tabs (near the reed cage) thus helping with warpage and base gasket failure also.
If yours is broken, I'd recommend finding another cylinder, and starting over. No aftermarket company builds a cylinder for these... your stuck with the poorly designed Suzy unit.
