zilla rear shock tear down help
#1
THX...I've bought replacement seals for my 87 zilla's rear shock. I was hoping that instructions would come with the seals on how to take the dang thing apart but NO!!! I'm a machinist and I'm no stranger on how to take things apart but this one has got me stumped. I need your help. Actual fact, step by step. Please anyone with actual experience with this, please help!

Norm: I've done it about 6 years ago... man, i'd really need to dust off some cobwebs off these old brain cells to give you much good info.
Once you get the spring off, and the nitrogen released.. there should be a lock collar (Something of the like) where the shaft enters the body of the shock. That basically unscrews and allows the guts to be pulled apart.
The rest should be fairly self explanitory... When you get it reassembled, you'll need to get all the air back out... Hold the entire body under oil, and plunge it a few times..
Gosh, hope this helps you... Anybody with more recent experience?

My experience is only about a year fresher. I did rebuild mine but I thought the top was pressed/swedged on. I thought I remember it being odd that such a beautiful high pressure clicker shock didn't have a unscrewable top. I could be wrong. A few helmets broke on my head since then.

Superstar, I don't really have the time to make them. To make one set would be too much money. I had a few people want some. Maybe if I could make five or so sets, it would be worth it. Also, I don't have a 250 to measure. Sorry.
