hello new to this site just wondering if anyone could help me with something I bought a new 2004 ltz 400 about 6 months ago and ever sense the frist ride and it has at best 12 hours on it don't get alot of time to ride but any way the engine has a noise like a knock but it seems to be more in the cyl. head area and it is there weather you ride real hard or just put around it changes with rpm but then doesn't seem to it is hard to explain I took it to the dealer where i got it and they said it was a normal noise but really could not tell me what was making the noise. it may be the twin cam design i have never owned a ouad or anything else that used two over head cams if any one could help.

 

I think the noise you are hearing is probably normal.Make sure it has the correct ammount of oil and that the oil filter is put in correctly.Go ahead and run it if it breaks warrenty will cover it.

 

thats what the dealership said and i ran it on several ocations as hard as it would run nothing broke and the noise got no louder the noise is consistant and the same every time but i am out of warranty now my 6 mo is over thats why i was just wondering if any one else had the same noise. thanks for the reply.

Um have your valves checked. Since you new to quads i am guessing you dont have alot of hours working on them. lol.
