Default Quadzilla exhaust info needed.

Are there any other websites that are for Zilla owners only? I have been going back thru the old posts from 270 pages ago and am finding that there are only about 10 guys that post here. There are more Zilla's 4 sale here in Phoenix than that.

What gives? Are Zilla's SO expensive to keep running that the average owner can't afford a PC?? jk

More questions:

1. Is Rocky Mountain ATV the cheapest place to buy Maier plastic? If not, where is?
2. Will a stock hood fit on Maier plastic?
3. Is the Keihin 39 the best carb to use on the Zilla? It already has it on it if so.

Thanks guys for your help. I'm going to get this monster, I'm just trying to plan my "budget" before the summer teardown.

I bought an LRD pipe for my 1987 Zilla about 2 years ago. I waited 6 months. The pipe is sick i never felt it pull with an fmf pipe. I heard LRD wont make any more pipes unless they get 10 or more people to buy them. Is this true??

The kiehin gives the best throttle response unless you have a highly, highly modded motor, then you'd want a 44mm or something. So keep the PWK on it for sure. Last I heard the LRD's were fairly expensive, and I paid almost $100 more for a PT/FB exhaust than what I could have got the FMF for a couple years ago. I put the Paul Turner pipe on my 90 Zilla so I could sell it to my cousin. So I was just going to buy a cheap FMF to back on for the time being.

How much are the Paul Turners now, anyways? Did the price drop or something? Thanks!!

Oh, and stay away from the Don't Go DG's.....All they do is make more noise from what I've gathered through the years......

Thanks 4 the reply. Couple of questions for ya:

1. You left Trinity off your list. Why?
2. Just what makes FMF junk?
1) I cannot make a reasonable comment about trinity's pipes. I think the specs are fairly close on their drag pipe to fit my needs, but I have had horrible experiences with their shop. I hate to give them any recommendation based upon that.

2) FMF basically provides NO improvement in performance over the stock pipe! If you'd like to throw your $$$ away, please send some my way. The newer FMF (Fatty) is slightly better than a stock pipe, but certainly not hundreds of $$ better. Just trying to give sound advice. I wasted my money on one years ago... I'd sure hate to see you waste yours.

Just my $.02

1) Rocky Mtn ATV is a great place to buy stuff.... I got some Maier plastic from them probably 8 years ago... The stuff fit horrible, and looked even worse!!... Now Maier has new 'shiny' plastic... it appears to be much better than days of old.
2) Again, the 'old' plastic was not compatible with the stock hood... I can't say whether the new stuff is or not. Might want to call Maier directly and ask before you shell out the $$

I swore I'd never buy more Maier plastic... but they might have turned things around.. I had to use a heat gun to make the stuff fit even close...

3) The Keihin is a good carb if and only if it's the PWK series! If its the older oval (PJ) series... it's junk
The 39mm is a decent size for a stock motor. I run a taperbored PWK 41.5mm on a mildly ported motor... they work great.

Thanks for the info DuneAddict.

Are there any other places on the NET where Quadzilla owners congregate?

MacDizzy is a great source for info... unfortunately they started charging for membership, so some folks (Myself included) no longer lurk over there.

Another thing about the FMF is it is NOT sturdy. I have two FMF fatties that came with my quadzilla and they are both cracked or mangled in some way. And don't even get me STARTED on the crappy silencer. The paul turner pipe is a SUPER tight fit but looks and is FAR superior. Hell, mine doesnt even have any dents! And the silencer is built very sturdy with screws that hold the end cap on, not crappy rivets.

i have to disagree with duneaddict on the quality on the paulturner exhaust system this will be my third knew setup. the first two the silencers blew the end caps off and the hanger welds keep braking has for the pipes the same the hanger welds brake.

I agree with duneaddict, trinity sucks. But I love the pipe that I got from them, it makes awsome power all the way through the power band. It is a night and day difference from the FMF that I had previously. Trx440 we should go for a ride sometime and you can see for yourself.
