Quadzilla exhaust info needed.
#1
I am in the process of buying an 89 Quadzilla. It has a totally stock engine and carb; new jug and head.
I know of the following companies that produce exhausts:
1. CT
2. FMF
3. Trinity
4. LRD
5. Duncan
I would like the bike to be as torquey as possible. I am not looking for a big hit and I'm not looking for a high rever. 2 stroke fans, don't freak when I say, " I want it to have 4 stroke like delivery." I will only be duning this bike and what I am looking for is to make it as dependable as it can possibly be.
Which pipe should I go with? If you know a little about how each performs please write a little review on it.
Thanks in advance guys. -RT

I have a CT pipe on my trx250r right now and I love it. It's a midrange pipe so it has a pretty wide powerband.....it'll probably have similar performance on the Zilla. I had a low-end FMF on it before and it gave my bike awesome low-end performance. The only thing about FMF pipes though (at least for the R) is that they fit like garbage. I would have to degrease my motor after every ride because the pipe would allow burnt oil to spew all over the place.....I even had two o-rings and an aluminum exhaust flange! I'm not too sure about the other pipes though.

Well, if you want torquey, get an FMF Gnarly for cheap or spend more $ and get a Paul Turner "all-around" pipe. If its your first QZ, save money with the FMF. It'll keep you impressed for quite awhile.

hey if you want to try a fmf pipe ive got one the get rid of i belive it is an older one cause all it says is fmf on it i purshased it of ebay last year and only ran it once at the grass drags and got my paulturner back so no need for it let me know.

I noticed the Trinity and LRD have a traditional 250R bend to them, how do they perform I wonder?
The FMF silencers available are just SO unattractive. But if they are the best torque pipe that is what I will end up getting. Also from what I've seen, CT and Paul Turner's are within $25 of the FMF's.
I didn't mention DG earlier, I've not had any luck with their products in the past but would welcome any info on their performance on the Quadzilla.

I have a Paul Turner(Duncan Racing) pipe and I love it. Its a SUPER tight fit because its such a huge gnarly pipe(especially with my PVL ignition). However if you want some FMF junk I have one I will sell you for cheap.

Thanks guys for sharing your preferences with me but what I would like to know is how each pipe effects the power delivery compared to one another or compared to stock.

The Paul Turner or LRD pipes are the ONLY pipes to consider!!! Don't waste your $$ on the FMF junk!
The LRD is very hard to find these days, so I'd highly recommend the PT.
The 500 will have 'better than 4 stroke' low end grunt with this pipe on it... It'll also run way better in the upper RPM range as well.
My $.02
