ok one of my rding partners bikes has a problem. when u take off the oil cap on his oil tank there is pressure there and oil comes out very fast whether the bike is warm cold on an incline doesnt matter. what could be causing this. he was brave and rode it anyway and it still runs there is oil in the motor when we loosened the drain plug on the bottom. we were thinking maybe a clogged return line? any ideas? any help would be appreciated.

 

this is probably a stupid question but, your not taking the cap off when its running are you?

 

no when it is off.

 

Could be alittle too much oil... if he put 2.2-2.5 quarts in (what it usually takes) and forgot to drain the engine or replace the filter, it would be too much.

I find when I change the oil I put it just about 2.5 quarts, and it fills the resivour to the top, maybe a little spilled out. But once started, warmed and checked, it's spot on.
