It is for me. I have never mixed over 40 to 1 and sometimes I go as high a 50 to 1. I have never scuffed a piston or hurt any of my two strokes.
I'm sure some people on here will say 20 is just right, but not for me.

Most manuals on older 2-strokes will recomend 20:1, but I learned a long time ago that over 32:1 is too rich and will constantly foul plugs. I wouldn't mix any richer than 32:1. What are you running this in?

Ratio's can vary per oil type. Most are fine at 32:1 some are made for 50:1. I don't no way use the 100:1 stuff.
Get a good synthetic ie: maxima,Klotz r-50,amsoil, etc. mix it at what the oil manufacturer says and you'll be fine.

I did the same thing at first and had to change my plug every time I rode but now i mix Klotz with a ratio of 32:1 and my bike runs like a champ.

yah I've been running about 28:1 in my lt250r using Golden Spectro 'cause I'm old school, but obviously I need to change my thinking because I've been fouling plugs among other problems. Seems everything is going wrong at once and I break down every time I ride. I am getting through my ordeals though and will come out with a better quad in the end. Anyway I need ideas on 2-stroke oils to use on my aging stock 'racer motor. Also any ideas on the transmission oil you guys are running would be great. I have had probs with fouling and overheating so these are two things I wanna change. Thanks for the input...

i don't know what mods you are running, or the kind of quad, but to me, 20:1 is WAY TO LITTLE. I have a 86 LT250r and i run 32:1. It is a perfect mixture that almost anyone mixes for there LT250r. Next time try 32:1 and see how you lik it! It will not foul your plug at all, i have been mixing this since i had mine (almost a year) and only fouled once. Just don't rev up a lot and then let it iddle, thats what makes plugs foul.

Umm, 20:1 is more oil not less....(249R, we've all made that mistake )
Sorry I cannot say what I do with jetting as I have a lectron carb. Lectrons are not as fussy as some. I can screw the limiting rod in and out (sort of like re jetting).
For what it's worth, I just went back and forth from maxima to klotz(32:1) and then to Amsoil(50:1). I changed nothing.
