Default quadracer piston help???

hey guys...pretty new to quads.. just picked up an 88 quadracer . got a good cylinder and head off ebay that the guy said will fit 87-92 racers. i also need a new piston. i know that 87 and 88 were different pistons, so my question is what do i go by or how do i know what piston to order??

i pretty sure you buy the piston to match the cylinder.

Yeah, I think maybe the port heights are different or something, so you want the same year piston to go with the jug.

ya but what i dont know is if i have to order the piston that fits an 87 or 88 cylinder. the cylinder fits 87-92 racers but the pistons are different so i dont know which piston im supposed to get? thanks guys

THe 87 cylinder is one of a kind and the 88-92 are all the same. 87 has different # of head studs and way different ports. It is done as a blanket comment quite often to group 87 into the 88-92 group. Chances are your jug/head is 88 up. And you would then get that piston. The piston itself may be identical, the bores are the same. Check with Wiseco or any other mfgr and see if they carry a different part # for 87 opposed to the others and that'll tell you what you need to do.

The pistons are different. This may help you identify your cylinder so you can get the right piston.

All quadracers had 6 head studs. Only the Quadzilla had 7(6 in 87). Lets keep the info correct.
