Default Aftermarket front diff lock for Vinson

Is there an aftermarket front diff lock for the Vinson? I like everything about the Vinson exept the fact that you can't lock up the front diff. I'm looking to replace my Arctic Cat. I just got a refund on my o4 AC650. Thanks for any help.

Default Aftermarket front diff lock for Vinson

I bought a Detroit Gearless Locker from High Lifter for my Vinson. It was the worst money I have spent on my quad. It works well in deep mud but thats it. In 4x4 it is very very hard to steer. When I an climbing a steep hill the torque steer pulls the front of the quad back and forth and I have to slow down and lose momentum. At speeds of 25 to 40 I can feel it and it takes away from the handling. When I installed it I broke both outer CV's with in 3 weeks.
My buddy has a Vinson also. He dosen't have the locker. He can go anywhere I can. If one of the front wheels loses traction he just taps the front brake and it sends traction to the other side. He can climb hills better than I can to in 4x4.

How is the towing ability of the vinson? It shows a 880something lb tow rating. Along with riding it on the Rubicon Trail, I want to use it on the property.

the 980lbs of towing, is underated i have towed cars litterly, and a 4000lb u-haul trailer, that was pushing it, and it lost traction, before it lost power, the dgl adds to the towing package, and overall fun factor of the bike, wheelies are easy, and the ride is one of the sportiest in the biz, for a ute, if you by it you deff wont be disapointed.

One more question, I promise... I live at 2300' and will be riding up to 6000-7000 feet during some trips. I understand that you lose some power at elevation, but are there problems keeping the Vinson running? I don't want to have to re-jet on the trail. I don't mind some power loss. Sorry I lied, just one more. I want to get the auto trans rather than the 5 speed so my wife can ride it. Is the auto reliable. I got my money back from Arctic Cat because they could not fix the transmission on it. The engine braking would not work. Does the engine braking actually work on the Vinson? I know, it was several questions. I really appreciate all your input, I really don't want to make another mistake on an ATV.

I was looking at the locker, too. I decided not to get it because of the reasons dazeys gave. I would rarely need it. I hear they do work great for bouldering, and the mud, though. I'm very happy with the vinson. (even though its in the shop getting the parking "pawl" lever replaced-covered by warranty) I do wish I had gotten the auto, though. I took it to our cabin at Bucks lake-its at 5300',and rode up to 6500' I couldn't see a big loss of power. It was great in the snow, too. The only thing I have towed was the honda four trax that my son rode. It didn't do as well in the snow. (neither one did well in the deep, soft stuff)Engine braking works fine for me. I just saw a special on four wheelers going up the rubicon-looks like it would be a blast. Its only a couple of hours from here.
