Where to find an LT230 chain guard?
Thanks. I am ending up modifying the Vince's Cycle Case guard to fit a 13 tooth front with a 38 rear, this should drop me from a 3.42 ratio to a 2.92 and give me back some of my gears! Any thoughts on carberation? I have the stock 28mm on it but want to go bigger. I am thinking a 34mm (per my engine builder) but Keihin or Mikuni or Edelbrock??????

thanks guys! I will keep my stock carb for now, we have the jetting issues somewhat resolved, it still is a tad lean on the top end. I think I am going to go with an Edelbrock carb. We just changed the sprocket from the stock 41 tooth to a 38 and WOW, I have 2nd gear back, first is still too low but for the Dunes this weekend it should be stellar!! Just bought some AMS Arrowspeed paddles on Douglas Red labels anyone ever use these??

sandcowboy....great to hear the good news on the 230...I just bought my wife a junk one and have been working on it for a month. I got it to run a week ago and now I am trying to work out the bugs. I was happy to hear they run strong. I am not sure if it has the 10 or 12 to one in it but it sure the hell is not stock. How much did that cam run you? I think I am going to have the same issues with the gearing as you did. Right after we got it running(like crap) my neighbor stood the front end up 2 1/2 feet in second gear! can't wait to see what it does running good! Keep us posted on your gearing choice after a good hard ride!

Way to go, the LT230 can be a basket case but it runs very strong! I think got my cam from White Brothers for $138.00. the piston I found on e-bay, I will let you know after this weekend how the gearing with paddles works. As far as jetting goes, I have a DG Excelerator pipe and without the Sparky I was running a 140.5 main jet with the needle two slots down and the pilot screw 2-3 turns out. With the sparky we put the needle in the stock location and a 120 main jet and the screw in 1.5 turns (I think). it took us a long time sorting it out. I will be switching Carbs probably an Edelbrock 32mm or Kehin 32mm.
