Default What are some signs when i need a top end job?

What are some signs when i need a top end job? I was wondering because i hear a knocking sound when i RUN the my 85 lt 250r at low speeds 1mph-10mph.. WHen my 250r is ideling it doesnt make a sound other than the authentic 2 stroke motor sound. It starts up easily, too. runs great. One thing i know i need to replace is my chain and sprockets, and my rear shock , can any of these things i need to change be responsible for this knocking sound?? thanks guys ..

I guess it could be piston slap, but I'd say it's more likely bearings. Stick a long screwdriver against the bottom end and put you ear to it and see if the knocking is coming from there, then do the same on the cylinder. Unless of course you have a mechanics stethescope.

This is the case of a dodge steath, so i'm not sure if it works but........If you put better oil in ur gas, it will stop the knocking. Steahts are famous for knocking and if you put better/more oil in the engine, it helps stop the knocking. Try it, if it doesn't work, then try what Mbrooks said.

I'd gamble this problem has nothing to do with iol, unless you are oil fouling big time. Steath motors knock due to a manufacturing defect.
