Default Alternate Quadracer Engines

Anyone replaced the 250 2 stroke with any other type of engine beit 2 or 4 stroke? Just kinda curious as I'm contemplating doing so with my 86. Don't ask why, I just like to tinker and she's not mint so it won't hurt.

If not, suggestions? Kinda thinking of some of the XR engines such as the 500 but don't know if I'd have enough clearance, don't think so, haven't measured.

You mean to tell me no one has swapped engines out or even considered it?

The 86 frame receives a zilla engine relatively easily. This is the weapon of choice for Zuki guys out west who want a light weight, high HP dune/drag machine. If you search, you'll find this topic has been discussed here quite a bit. There is alot more on the topic at macdizzy.com.

Four stroke engines are generally too big to fit into a 2 stroke frame. Dirtbike engines are not couterbalanced like atv engines so they tend to vibrate alot and break motor mounts in quad frames.
