400 air box lid on or off?
#1
I have a 03 Z/KFX 400 with fmf power bomb and ti 4 exhaust and k&n filter with dynojet kit should I run with lid on or off does it make that much differance and if so what main (DJ) do I go with and needle pos, I am at 700-800 ft al. I would prefer to run lid but if it makes that much diff I may go with off

Yes, take the lid off. I did on mine and i love it. You have to run a 165 to a 175 jet. I promise you will love it! Especailly with all of the mods you have. If you get that breathing more air, than more power. of course with the right jetting.

I heard that the stock carb is extremly restritive and if you go to the 38mm edle brock carberator for 480 dollars, it gives alot of extra power that was restricted by the old carb. Does any one know if this is true?

I am running the stock carb. My manifold that boondockers sent me was bad and out of date. Well let me take that back, it wasnt boondockers, it was a side company that sold the boondockers kit. The kit that the side company sent me was two years old and tampered with. I just sent the manifold peice back today. so Hope fully i will get it back by next week. I just want to know how much power a new carb will give. they cost some $$$$480.00$$$ for the edle brock.

Just wondering how high is the rev limiter on the 400, I was bogging when I wind out the first couple gears I notice a big diff after I take off top , (can,t keep front end down), but it seems no matter if I have lid on,(front don,t come up) or remove tape on lid (have holes drilled in it) or remove I seem to break up at top end of first few gears , I have not been able to thourghly test on real long straights yet , but I wanted to know if I,m hitting rev limiter or if its a jetting issue still?
