Default Header Wrap?

Is it safe to use with aluminum heads because my stepdad told me that the heat being kept inside the exhaust could cause damage to my head because aluminum melts fairly easier than steel. Never heard of any problems like that before so just wanted to check with you all and see what your opinions are on using header wrap. O and just in case you are wondering I am going to try and run it because I think that if the heat coming from the pipe was not there my air cooled motor would run cooler and I have heard of performance gains from using header wrap.

Save your time....and looks of the machine by sending out the pipe and getting a Jet-hot ceramic coating on it.

Yeah well that is alot more expensive isnt it? Header wrap is cheaper isnt it? And would I still reap the benifits that cars benifit from? I mean would it do what I think it will? will it make the slightest power increase?

Well I know it wont be big but I am not extremely worried about the performance increase I am mostly counting on the lower temps from getting rid of the exhaust heating up my motor because it is air-cooled.

You gatta be carefull with header wrap. Pipes on two strokes have a certain heat range that they are designed for. Though the wrap would speed up velocity that actually might hurt you if it move it too fast, plus the exhaust will be much hotter. Another thing warp will do is eat your pipe from the inside out because of the extra heat retention. With ceramic coatings you get the benifit of a good looking pipe that will last for years and years and is not to hot that it will eat through the material as the wrap is more efficient at keep the heat in the pipe. Yes it's cheaper for that wrap, but the wrap it's self only lasts so long.

What if I left a few open areas to release some of the heat so that it is not damaging the pipe would that work?
