I have just recently purchased a 04 500 suzuki vinsion atv. I was riding the other day the temperature outside was about 30'C and was about 15 km into my drive and i came across swampy area, i got out using 4wd and thought nothing of it, about 10 km later my oil temp light was on so i shut the machine off and let it sit for about 15 minutes, it was off so i continued my drive home, while driving home the light came on agin, so agian i let the machine sit for about 15 minutes. After washing the machine and not running the machine for about 4 hours, i drove for about 5 km and the oil temp light came on again.
Does anybody know the problem, i would apprechiate all responses, thanks.

 

Did you turn the 4x4 off? Maybe the extra force needed is causing the engine to heat up a lot faster? Water may have also gotten into a connection when you went through the swamp.
