Default bad news for my lt250r...

well it was fathers day and I went riding for a few hours. My bike has been running great lately. I was in 4th gear haulin along a power lines road when...blam...loud noise and then some serious knocking going on in the motor. Oh crap, I immediately killed the motor and stopped. I had left a 50 foot long oil streak. Upon further inspection I found a 1/2 inch hole in the right side case and all of the oil came out. Needless to say I got towed back to the truck and loaded up. Is this as bad as it seems? Haven't even really looked at anything yet, just parked it.

well, I suppose I'll start looking for a new motor? Is there different motors I can put into the lt frame or what do you guys think is my best deal to do?

nah i doubt you need a new motor. where exactly is the hole at? either your clutch blew to pieces or you have some serious transmission issues. take it to someone to see exactly what went wrong in there.

Any motor that is less than 17-18" tall will fit. I'd personally go for another suzuki motor....a gsxr600 though

Default bad news for my lt250r...

thanks guys, my brother(my mechanic) had some time and tore off the side cover. He told me it looks like the clutch basket gear(?) or something broke and fried my basket and the rest of my clutch parts, along with putting 2 holes in my casing. So does anyone know about this gear? I checked on a new basket and aftermarket doesn't include this gear. Maybe OEM($). Any knowledge about this would help me out, thanks!

Check the parts diagrams that are online like at Ronnies. The exploded views should help you figure out how much it will cost to fix.

I've been doing some checking and it looks like I need to buy a stock OEM clutch basket to get the gear that I need because it's all one piece. It's $180 from the stealer but I'd like to find a used one, none on ebay right now. Anyone know somewhere else for used lt250r parts?

Look around for one because it doesn't come with the new basket, I just replaced my baskets last year, everything is a separte piece.
