how is the power of a 400ex compared to a Z400?

i havent ridden one in a long time so i cant remeber and plus i barley knew how to ride...

i just want to know how it acelerates and how it revs compared to the z.. i know that the z is faster and quicker but how much different is it?

i posted this in honda but nobody answered

Surprised because alot of people have opinions on this matter. Let me sum it up for you in one paragraph. Numerous people who claim to have both claim totally different opinions. Here is the real deal, both stock are going to be very close, and differences will only be noticed by a more experienced rider. Supposedly the z will handle a little better, and is a little faster, but not much. Z does have liquid cooling and reverse, and in my opinion looks cooler, so for me the $400 difference would be worth it for the z.
You will hear many many different opinions but the best way is to get out there and ride them both for yourself, but they are both great bikes.

Oh and the z 400 rev limiter kicks in at 8,000 rpm's, but Im not sure about the ex. Sure it is similiar though. That is compared to 10,000 on the yfz, for comparability sakes.

i was riding a z today.. ive riden them many times before... ive only riden an ex once and i cant remember due to a concussion and amnesia .. i cant remember anything aafter that happened...

when i was riding it i was thinking i wonder what an ex feels like to this because this is pretty powerful. ill be getting an ex in about a month or two and i was just curious.

got to get to bed then to work for that ex, the things i do for quads

I never ridden a Z but I've drag raced them and personally I see very little difference in speed and power. There is no loser here, either one is going to guarentee absolute fun. The biggest difference with these two is do you want to pay a little extra for reverse? I was a little partial to Suzuki but went with the Honda cause it cost considerably less. I wouldn't trade one for the other and very happy with my decision..................

I noticed the Z has a more "motorcycle" like powerband, seems to rev higher and have gain power good from mid to upper rpms. The ex has more oomph in the midrange, but doesnt seem as rev happy. Overall powerwise the are fairly close, like on any quad the rider makes a huge difference tho.

The z revs faster, and feels like it has more power, because it has dohc, and suzukis usually have killer engines, but not so great frames. The honda is also getting pretty old, and did not have as much technology, as we have today.

I forgot you had all of that head injury stuff, at least you wear a helmet riding!
