OK, I'm totally stoked that this carb fit so easily. NO mods necessary, it just barely fits, but fits perfectly. You can use the stock clamps, stock throttle cable, stock choke and plunger, stock fuel lines, all you have to do is swap in your Eiger idle adjuster.
THROTTLE RESPONSE ROCKS!!! And, this thing pulls so hard to 50mph now, it's crazy compared to before. I don't have a stretch of road that's very long, so I have no idea how much faster it'll go, but I'm guessing I might be at 60mph now. It seems like I might be rpm limited over 60, but time will tell... gotta find a place to go fast!
WAY more power (or so it seems). I don't really have a way to compare except by the seat of my pants, but when I get to the dunes next, I'll really be able to tell the diff.
I'm going to see about squeazing a little more air through the snorkle and airbox, because I'm sure that it's still not living up the the carb's capability. I think if I replace the ribbed portion between the airbox and the snorkle with a large, smooth piece of hose it will help. Maybe a large radiator hose or filler neck tube. Also, I think replacing the tube between the airbox and the carb with a larger tube, smooth of course, will also help. BUT, it's not like I really need more at this point... I'm just curious what will help more. Maybe HMF or FMF will come out with Eiger exhaust from the engine back? I'm not interested in a new muff, I don't think that will help much. Just a bigger pipe. I can't find SS tubing to make my own pipe, so I'll have to rely on an A/M place to make one.

Are you running the stock 128mm main jet? Also, are you able to adjust the idle circuit screw with the engine running? i.e.; without having to tilt the carb?

 

I didn't even look at the jet before I put the carb in. And, yes, I should be able to adjust the idle circuit without tilting the carb. I'm just going to need to use a low clearance screwdriver. You know, the one that's a little ratchet that has interchangeable bits. I should have plenty enough room for that.
By the exhaust smell, it does seem lean, but it runs awesome, so I don't know if it's actually lean or not. Is the stock jet 128? If it is, maybe I'll swap up to the 134 I have in my other carb and see what that does...

 

Uhhh.... did a search on the stock jet size in the CVK36, and looks like it should be 144. Not sure where you heard otherwise.

 

Looked up a 2003 Vinson carb on this site and the main jet is a #128. Suzuki OEM parts

 

That's kinda wacky, since the 36mm carb has about 26% more cross section surface area than the 32mm, so the jet should be larger by the same proprotion, which would be something like 153. Even though the jet numbers probably aren't linear in relationship, then I'd expect them to be at least CLOSE to linear. 144 is a heck of a lot closer to 153 than 128. A 128 jet in the CVK36, I would think, would be so lean as to be dangerous.

I read some 'vinson jetting' posts and Vinson581 was saying that stock it was 144. That's the only reason I'd think that. He seems to be a pretty knowledgeable guy.

 

Interesting... on the HMF website, they recommend a 135 Keihin jet for the Eiger with their exhaust and a 142 Keihin jet for the Vinson with their exhaust.

I'm going to have to check my jet when I get home...

I assumed the #128 main jet listed for the 2003 Vinson was actually 128mm since the main jet listed for my Eiger is listed as #122 which is in fact a 122mm. I apologize for the misinformation.

 

122mm???? That's almost 4 inches!

I don't think that the number 122 means anything as far as a measurement goes. It's not 122µm, it's not 122mm, so what else could it be? I think it's just like Mikuni or anyone else, they come up with some numbers by whatever process, and assign them however they want.
