Yes 13-40 would theoretically lower top speed, but you would gain a ton of acceleration. Let me ask you...why would like to raise your top speed?? Do you drag in races where top speeds are reached?? I don't. Get the 13 tooth and you'll see what I mean.
Yes a pipe would make you accelerate faster...and yes its louder.

yes i do race in a place with a very long strip- i dont know how long but it is long enough to reach top speed
and im sorry if im asking stupid questions-ive only been riding for about 5 months

yes but im confused about how this works-if i changed the sprockets to make it go faster would that make it harder to climb hills?would i have to buy a new chain?how hard is it to put new sprockets in?(i know very little about engines and stuff like that)
And exactly how fast would my Z be then?

2. Not if you bought a 13 tooth, the stock chain works fine.
3. Front sprocket- very easy... Back sprocket- Take off tire, hub (30mm socket needed), old sprocket comes off, new one comes on.
Tell you what...go out and buy a 13 tooth and 15 tooth, for both with tax it may cost you $30. Try both...see which one you like better, and go from there.
I could sit here all day and type out all different kinds of circumstances and examples of where one sprocket could benefit over another, but ultimately you have to be the one to decide which set up you like best and suits your riding needs.
