Newduck, are you talking about something:

like this one?

Is this good? or do i need a spark arrester? What is the difference between a spark arrester and a muffler/silencer?

A spark arrester is baisiclly a screen insert that stops the sparks. If your aftermarket pipe doesn't have or come with one then you can add one by either getting an insert from the manufactuer or add one on the silencer/ muffler by installing a sparky. all you need to do is measure the outside diameter of your muffler and order the appropriate size. Instalation is normally a breeze ,mine just slipped on(with a rubber mallet helping it along) and then you use the supplied self tapping screw and clamp. 5 minutes tops(knock on wood) and unless your on private property or a closed course then you got to have one.

What is a reasonable price to pay for a new rear shock? I looked on 'works' and it was like 350 bucks. Do i just need to get a new spring? how do i know if the entire shock is bad? App Performance, is it a website? I couldnt find a site when i searched the name.
and thank you all so much.

It is unlikely that it's the spring that needs to be replaced it's mainly a support for the shock itself.
I'm not thinkin that the one you have now is rebuildable, it's usually the seals inside the shock valve that go bad & start leaking causing the shock to rebound poorly or not rebound at all.
Thats not really a bad deal on the Works shock, no matter where you end up lookin for one
thats the going rate. Unless you can find someone around your area with a rear shock to fit that,
I think you'd be better off getting the Works shock. They last forever & they are rebuildable.
Your very welcome for the help, we all love to do our part in aiding our fellow atv 'rs!

APP is a retail shop that has some good experience with the LT230, they rebuilt mine! And it was a complete basket case, new bearing/seals all around, no rear brake caliper, they fabbed a Banshee rear brake to fit, shocks are very expensive! 350 for a new one is not bad but you can find used ones on E-bay, word of caution though those shocks wear out fast! so buy a new one if possible. I have the DG pipe also, I paid 160 from a dealer, I went to APP and they could really beat up most anybody elses prices, they do not have a website their number is 269-663-2512 ask for Brian he is the shop foreman.
