Default LT 250 R Power Valve

This applies to a 92 QRacer 250. When sitting in nuetral and the engine is revved up should you be able to see the lever on the powervalve move up and down to confirm that it is working right?

My engine was just rebuilt and it seems that the powerband is much more "jumpy" then before. Beyond 3rd gear it seems like it takes forever for any real power to be made.

Yes, you should see the lever move up and down when cracking the throttle open. It should start opening at a set RPM. It may simply be out of adjustment. Check your service book for correct RPM setting and correct if need be.

Very interesting. Mine also seems to take forever to get to the powerband in the high gears like 4-6th. Is this cause of the power valve? I thought it was jetting...

I was replacing my rings today and noticed the the arm for the power valve was not hooked on the spring like it appears it should be, causing the power valve not only to open late, but not open fully. When I put it back together I will find out if that was the problem.

Ye that little rod NEEDS to be connected in order fotr the exhaust valve to work right. Usually when it doesn't work either the little rod came off one of the plastic clips(happened to me) or the spring in the vlave has failed or it is out of adjustment. 99.9% of the time it is one of those symtoms.
