hey all i'm ready to move on and sell my warrior i've had it bout it year, i like it and all its just getting alot of wear on it and i wanta bigger / newer quad, i think i've decided on a z400 i could get a 400ex cheaper i know like 10 ppl that have them around here...lol, there good machines and all but i'd like to have reverse also

what i wanta know is.... 03 was the first year for the z400's right?? because this was the first yr they came out was there any recalls or anything for them... cause usally when a quad first comes out the 1st yr models have problems it seems like.... i have heard of rumors about frt shock mounts breaking?

what should i expect to pay for an 03 model.. i'm hoping i can find one for around $3,500

My 03 frame is doing great. I did install the Arens Bros. brace, after the first season, just to hedge my bets.

It's a great bike. The motor likes to rev (nothing like a Warrior) and has a light flywheel. It needs its airbox opened up and a muffler, to get more low end from the motor.

 

i love the z400. the only problem ive heard of is a supposedly weak frame on the 03's. i have had no problems wit ours.

 

i have an 04 and i love it....ive taken it on 4 rides so far and put about 23 hrs or so on it......ive heard of the weak frame but from what i understand unless ur doing sky high jumps and really abusing it there isn't an issue

i actually did what ur contemplating.....ditched a 99 warrior in favor of the Z400

it does need the pipe and air box mod to give a lil more low end but other then that i think the power is great

id like to get some more info about that arens bros. brace ?

 

I really like my o3, I have had it about a year and a half and havent had one problem out of it. It has quite a bit of hours and use on it to, but I take good care of it. My frame has been just fine and I have hit some good jumps with it. My wife rides it now for the most part, but I still ride it in the woods where I would never take my ds. The z400 is the best trail bike by me.

 

my 04 is ok but going to sell it and get trx 250r

 

I have had mine for almost a year now, and havent had a problem at all with it.
It is a great quad. I did the mods mentioned earlier, and it was almost like I
bought another new quad!! I almost got rid of it in March when I bought my
Vinson, but I am glad I didnt.

great bike. My 03 frame is holding up very well. Love the power on it. w/ just a pipe you can beat alot of stock raptors. Very rider friendly.

 

The Z's are the ****, i have had mine for almost a year and a half and had only one problem which is the timing chain, but appearntly i am the only one whos had it stretch. But other than that, its been awsome. When you just do exhaust and airbox with a cdi and youll be smoken. I could beat trx450rs ,, raptors, preditors, and kfx700's in a 300 foot drag. But drag racing is all in the driver![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] But now that the nos is on its un stoppable. Modded Yfz's dont stand a chance. I have checked the piston and cylender-SP and no damage so far from the nos.

 

my friend had a 03 z im not a 4 stroke guy but it was bad azz good throttle response and balance points(i love riding wheelies on the new 4 strokes. my friend races so every year he trades in his quad with mods for a new one he just trade in his 04 predator for the new 05 special edition honda 450r ( he hasn't let me ride it yet but i cant wait)
his z had aftermarket cams a yoshmirore <--(however u spell it) pipe, shocks, razor tires , i think it had the 440 bore kit to , and more
