In all honesty, I rode a bare stock Z and it felt more like a Honda 400ex with reverse. Didnt feel like it had enough power to pay the extra money for.... But I got a Raptor so I may just be used to more power. I ride my friends alot though. If I were you, unless you plan on a 440-50 kit, I would recommend a cheaper EX. Than you can do a 440 kit on it cheaper and be as fast or faster than a Z. That's my $.02

Couple of positives on the Z:
-More HP potential than the 400ex
-Watercooled
-A lot of 400ex boltons will work with the Z400 like wheels, nerf bars, carbs(with a throttle change), etc.
-It has been revised by Suzuki every year since it's intro and those changes are interchangeable with the original. Like the new sub frame.
-reverse of course
It's a very good quad with a lot of potential.

hey wow i drove a brand new z400 friday at the suzuki dealer... first time ever been on one, i was very impressed with the low end power it had, i could shift otta second with fairly low rpms and 3rd would pull very hard yet, steered nicely and was just comfortable... $5100 out the door with tax and everything.... i talked my buddy into gettin one instead of a 450r, my warrior starts advertising tues in our local paper.... got about $3,800 to play with to get a Z, welp gotta go thanks everyone, quite helpfull post
