Default Question Regarding LT250

Im going to pick up my first quad an LT250, dono year but know its 87-92, and its 400$ maybe less if I can talk her down..

Im pretty sure this quad has been raced due to number 8 stickers that were on the rear fenders and pulled off, it has a DG scilencer other than that stock piping (guessing the owner removed) and it has a filter also dono what else.

BUUUT here are my questions, This quad needs a new ring and piston thats like 80$ at rocky mount. but what are the chances of me pulling the top end and finding its been bored to the most it can go? then what do I do... will I need a new top end? and if I do order a ring and piston and it already have been bored how do I get the piston and ring to fit what do I do?

Confuzed sorry for ignorance on this subject its my first quad lol.

"make sure u order thrust washers to that are on wrist pin"

Could you explain that in quad illeterate words? can I find them on rocky mount and where exactly do they go?

Thanks for the help

ALSO does places like rocky mount sell piston kits that are bigger than normal for people with over bore and if so more expencive? or what will I have to do get a sleeve or new head?

ALSO sorry for so many questions... What is best pipe to get that adds most power, Im doing trail riding mainly and fire-roads :-D and probly a bit of sand along the way, but mainly just wanting the best Straight road performance pipe.

Default Question Regarding LT250

The grille/hood is aftermarket, it will not help you find out what year it is.

Pistons come in different sizes depending on what bore your cylinder is (stock, .020, .040, .060, or .080). If it's already .080, you can resleeve it or get a new cylinder.

Get a shop manual. Best $15 you can invest in your quad.

Default Question Regarding LT250

if and when u pull your head off you will see the washers when you pull the piston.shattering of these washers by using old ones can be very devastating to your wallet.trust me.and definately listen to sam about the manual.power valve needs to be unclipped before pulling head.

Default Question Regarding LT250

About the year, there is usually a metal tag on the frame that will have the year of manufacture. You can also figure it out by the vin. If you have to go that route, anyone with a Suzuki owners manual should be able to tell you how to decipher the vin to get the year. Definately pull the top end before ordering anything. Don't worry if it is already .080 over, as stated above, there are solutions to that little problem. If it was raced hard multiple seasons, or the owner was a knucklehead, then ya, you might be at the max bore size already. Good Luck
