Default LT250R - Rad Valve and Proper Jetting

Has anyone installed one of these Boyesen Rad Valves and then had problems with jetting? After installing one of these on my 92 LT 250 when trying to accelerate it fell flat on it's face and would almost stall. This wouldn't clear up until I got down to a 210 main jet. I just found tonight that the needle was set on the first groove at the top. This doesn't seem right either.

Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and\or reply!
