My 2003 z400's cooling fan recently quit working, I've had the hot light come on twice now and the fan hasn't been running while that was on. I checked the fan (wired it direct to battery) and that was good. What else could it be, thermostat? fanswitch?

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I recently did a frame swap due to a stump that got in my way, but i've seen the fan work since I did that, I've checked all wire connections already.

I would think it could either be your thermistat or a silinnoid that runs from your battery.

 

I had the same problem. The dealer replaced it under warranty. The bike was only 3 months old.

 

Need to fix that.Hot light equals not good.

 

Chuck1221, yea I believe I have the same problem as you not sure yet, hot light has not come on yet but she gets pretty hot. I haven`t had time to really check. I beliee the fan is power by a coil. Should be easy enough to see.

 

is there a way to check if the thermostat is working? I'm not at home right now so I won't be able to take a look till sun. or monday. Also 03hffz do you know what your dealer replaced? What tempature thermostat is in there stock?
