moding my Z. need help.

Hey guys. first of all, i found out somethin really cool. usually when i race other quads, the raptors and the vforce usually get a better start than i do, but i figured out, if I floor it and keep it in first and second a little longer then usually, before shifting to the next gear , I leave any raptor or predator behind on the low end. i guess it has a lot to do with how you shift gears in a drag race. any way that was fun. NOw im going to buy some mods for the z so i can beat a raptor on the high end as well, because it seem as soon as we get in to about third gear the raptor pulls away. my question is what do i need? im already real close to ordering a jet kit and a K&N air filter, i took my silencer out of the stock exaust pipe, and i find that to give me more power. would i need to get another exaust pipe, or would it do the trick with the silencer taken out plus the K&N and the jet kit? thanx again for you help.

Not to be an A$$ or anything, but according to what you just said.. Untill you learned how to shift correctly, You were loosing the entire race right off the line, because you said they would beat you off the line, then from 3rd gear on they would pull away from you... Basically saying you were loosing from the second you started....
Anyway... I am new to this as well.. but I will share what i have learned so far... First if you want power, don't waste your time trying to modify the stock silencer.. No matter how much you modify it, it's still useless weight.. It will never give you the flow that any after market pipe will.. and rejetting a stock engine with just a K&N air filter, wont give you very much gain.... It's when you add a K&N air filter, and a High Performance exhaust that you increase the flow threw the engine, and thus create more power... If you want the most power out of an exhaust system, then you'll be looking at the Youshimura pro or comp system...

do a lot of research first before you start any mods
theres to many types and brands out there to choose from
dont let anybody talk you into anything till you find out about it
everybody will tell you what they think is best for you
you decide what and how much you want to spend to mod the bike
and go from there. first thing is pipe and jet the motor it will give
you more horse. and practice on you shifting.
the last thing you need to do is break something
ride safe

well, i knew that very well, that i needed some more practice with the shifting, but i just realized i shifted to quickly thats all. but the only one that pulls away from me is the raptor, i can beat a v force stock to stock on the high end. what do you mean about modifieng my silencer? i didint really modify anything on it, i just took the hole thing out, so it has quiete a bit more air flow. i got another question. well a few. lol. whats so different about an after stock market pipe? is the hole pipe diameter bigger or what gives it so much more air flow? plus, i can spend about 200 bucks at once only, so im thinking if i need to get an aftermarket pipe like you guys said, then id buy the K&N and the jet kit now, and later get the pipe, personally im thinking toward either big gun or white brothers, cause yoshimura is a little steep on the price. what do you think?
