im going to get a helmet camera.what hookup does my camcorder have to have to accept the helmet cam wires?do you just plug the helmet cam in to the camcorder and press record and it records from the helmet cam?does the helmet cam itself have to have an extra power soruce?thanks

Just about all helmet camera places use the same actual camera, its just how they package the rest of the "stuff". Can't imagine being without mine now. Provided for some awsome videos / memories!

Camcorders need to be able to record on AV inputs. Depending on your camcorder, some allow remote controls to be used, through a port called a LANC connection. The camera will come with a mic and a battery pack that usually lasts 10 hours (or so they claim).

They also have new devices where you don't need a camcorder. The camera feeds a portable hard disk drive setup instead.
