Default Modifications On an Eiger

I have been reading the postings on fitting Eigers with different Carbs, Lift Kits, etc. Is it potentially hard on these machines when modifications are done? I am thinking about a new carb as I see people rave about the differences they gain.

Default Modifications On an Eiger

Have you guys experienced any problems with the carb that comes with the eiger? When I start mine up, it will stall if I hit the throttle right away. It seems as though it needs a little bit of choke which doesn't seem to help. This happens all year around, even in the hot sun. Maybe my carb needs some cleaning or adjustments - Or better yet, up grading the carb to get a little more out of it. Any ideas on this one?

There is allot of info about that problem. Seems people are finding junk in the carb. Clean it out and you should be ok. You might also want to install a fuel filter. Cheap and takes about 5 min.

Eigers like to be warmed pu as they are a little lean from the factory. If you take the left side cover off you'll see the adjustment screw beside the bowl if you lossen the clamps and turn the bottom of the carb toward you. Turn out the screw 1 to 1.5 turns and that will fatten up the mixture a bit, this made mine alot better. you can also by the next size up jet size which would probably work alot better.

Default Modifications On an Eiger

Last night I decided to matters in to my own hands and completely stripped down my carb. I found a little piece of wood chip in th plastic fuel strainer. After cleaning the remainder of the carb and putting it all back together, I noticed a little difference but it still acted the same. The one thing I did not touch was the set screw, I will try that tonight. I may pick up a bigger size jet while I am at it as well.

Thanks

A turn and a half out does make a difference, if you rejet it post back and tell us if it is worth doing. I'm keeping my eyes open for a Vinson carb, but it'll half to wait till Moose hunting is over before i have time. My dumb#%* nephew is wanting to put a Supercharger on his 700 Polaris, I think I'll be peeling him off trees or something!!
