this question might be dumb but iwant to ask anyway. how many mpg can i get on my z400? i am considering a real long trip adn want to no how much gas i should bring.

 

depends on what type if ridng you do, like slow trails, or full throttle non stop, like racing. maybe aask you dealer if they have an estimate

 

alot of variables there.I thought I read somewhere that the Z will go 50 miles or so on a tank.I could be wrong

 

I rode my eiger this weekend rather than my z 4oo but my two buddies with z's rode with me. We rode a combo of fast trails, logging roads, Hill climbs, and some muddy pipeline and powerline hill climbs. We rode 35miles before the first z400 hit reseve. It has mods such as full yosh pipe KandN Rejet and rev box. the other z used a little over a half a tank at that point. his bike is stock. I haven't ever trail rode my z, it only see's sand duty, which uses more gas.

 

On reserve after 35miles??? I would check that tank for leaks [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] My stock Z will easily do 100 to 120 miles before I need reserve. Thats on trails and logging roads. And I am anything but light on the gas.

 

Yes after 35 miles and no leaks. His bike is modded and it greatly depends on what type of riding you do. Plus I don't believe a stock gas tank will get you 100 plus miles

 

well ive done mayb 40 miles on 3/4 of a gallon so i believe he might be right mayb not 100-120 but mayb 90-100

 

I have gone 113 miles before going to reserve. My Z is completely stock, always use premium gas and I'm not afraid to mash the throttle! Maybe it's cause I ride with a bunch of polaris's so I have to hold back some [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

is it possible to get a gas gauge for a z400?

 

Would be nice, but I've never heard of any available. I highly reccommend a Trail Tech computer. You can at least keep track of miles since last fill up.
