Default Interesting conclusion about my Z400

First off, I will state that I fully expect to get hate mail after this one goes out....I have a group of buddies that go ride the trails here. 3 of us have Z400's and one buddy has the Yamaha 450. 2 of our Z's have Yoshi's with jet kits and K&N's. We all love riding together, and last weekend after our ride, my buddy on the Yamaha told me to take his for a spin. Well I've heard all of the hype about this new quad, so I had to test her out. I can definitely say that it has lots of power and it has been impressive to watch, but after riding it, I think I am a lot happier with my Z. My first thing I noticed when I sat on it, was how uncomfortable it was. I didn't take it over any jumps, so I don't know how much better the suspension is. My other complaint was with the way it sounded. I kinda thought that it sounded like a tractor. I know that is just the difference with a 5-valve engine, but I love the way my Z sounds.....Does anybody know how it sounds with a pipe? Well I guess I will end this so the bashing can begin.....LOL, can't knock a guy too bad for his opinion

I bet if you put this in the Yamaha forum you would get some hate mail!!!!

I often get envious of YFZ owners but then I get on my KFX400 and realize that it does just about everything I want. I would like a touch more punch out of the corners but I think with the hot cams and a drz base gasket I will be happy.

Suzukis are the best, better than anything in the world. Anything else is just second rate. There that will get some hate mail LOL

Default Interesting conclusion about my Z400

Yamaha built more of a motocross specific machine, where the Suzuki is the better all-around machine. I spent an afternoon trail riding the 450, and was never so glad to get off a bike and back onto the Z. The suspension was harsh, and the powerband was all wrong for the trail.

When I bought a 450, I chose the Honda because it is less specialized machine than the Yamaha. I ride desert, and riding a motocross machine out there, just didn't make much sense.

Man, you guys must be in a nice mood today. Quadduck even tried to rile some people up and it didn't work. I do agree though that the Zuke might be the most well-rounded bike around. I picked mine up used from a buddy. It probably didn't have but about 10 hours on it when I got it. It looked brand new and I got it for $4000 w/ all of his accesories. I'm happy with that deal. I'm thinking we're gonna go out there today and do some riding. I got some awesome action pics last weekend, maybe I'll get some of me this time......

my buddy has a yfz450 fully piped and jetted sounds great and has lots of power
I road it a while and I still would ride my Z over it anyday
the suspension is stiff, felt like I was sitting up to high
its a nice quad but its not for trail riding
more for racing
