Default Edelbrock Carb for Z400 ?

Hi

I am wondering about buying me a Edelbrock FCR carb. for my LTZ 400, Ebay, Edelbrock FCR

They claims 6 hp gain ? , anyone agree that ?

How about installation ? will it fit right in ? and how aboute the choke ? is it on the carb or can I use the remote handle on the handlebars ?

I also wonder about jetting, does they come with different jets ? or do I have to buy this afterwords ?

I also want to install K/N powerlid, but no exhaust, I want to keep it low noise as it is.

Thanks

edlebrock and fcr are 2 different carbs
I dont like edelbrock carbs but that just me
I have a FCR 41 mil and it has no choke
installed easy, you can order them with the jetting
pretty close to what you want
and if you install a power lid you might have to jet it
you will gain HP but im not sure how much

Thanks mucky !

You have FCR 41 with no choke ? How is it to start your quad when it's cold ?

Do you think I will get more power by installing a new carb. or could I be pretty close by just jetting my stock carb and install new lid ?

FCR is a better carb than the stock one
the carb I have has a accelerator pump on it
all you have to do is pump the throttle 1 time and then start it
a new carb might help gain a little power
I had motor work done thats why I have a 41mil
went from 29hp to 44hp
I would do the power lid ,rejet and get a new CDI rev box before the carb

The FRC 41 is only for a built motor! The Edelbrock is no FRC.

I had one on my 400EX. The carb has only one circuit, and is difficult to fine tune! You tune it by changing needles, and/or raising and lowering the needle.........thats all you have to work with. This, compared to the usual carb that has 4 circuits, each for different throtle positions.

Mine had an absolutely furious top end, but a nasty bog off the bottom. I could never tune it out, and believe me I spent a lot of time with their tech guys. It bogged once on a takeoff ramp, and I came up short on a large double. Pulled the thing off the next day!!! Unless they have made some major improvements, I don't think you want to go there.

E-bay is such a joke! Like anything that is on e-bay, you have to ask yourself WHY. Why if the carb was so great, it isn't on the guys bike, instead of up for sale. Buyer beware!

I'm pretty tempted to buy the Edelbrock carb as well.

Doug Gust's staff talked it up pretty well. THey do mention it is harder to start cold. Sounds like Edelbrock is good for a stock engine but you'd want a FCR 39+ for a 440/450 motor.
