Twin Peaks or KQ ?
#3
I beg to differ on the handling topic. The KQ handles just about equally to the Twin Peaks/Prairie. The Prairie may handle 'slightly" better, but the KQ has a so much smoother ride. The Prairie is also no quicker. It's very close. The best advice is to ride both, then decide for yourself.

There have been several post about the power being less than anticipated, My dealer even told me not to expect Twin Peaks kind of power befor I drove down last weekend for my test ride. I agreed with him after my ride and will say that I still prfer the Twin Peaks. I thought its handeling was better than the brute for sure, It reminded me of my old grizzly alot in the comfort and handeling department. I will say the KQ is a real top notch quad but I still prefer the power and stability of the Peaks.

as for handling...it really is apples to oranges there...irs vs. sra which is better? depends on what and how you ride...theres a reason why praries dominate gncc tho....

The Prairie and KQ are both great machines. You can certainly look at it many ways. The way I see it is the Prairie currently dominates the GNCC's for a very good reason. Until recently, there was nothing that could even come close to it. I'm sure you will still see Prairie's doing an awesome job out there next year too. But, with so many new machines with updated technology, I think the domination factor won't be as high. Until next year, it's purely speculation. I've had my KQ torn completely apart to see what makes it tick. I can tell you I like what I've seen so far. I'd never slight a Prairie because they are just awesome. But, I'm glad there are other manufacturers pushing the envelope. It's that type of competition that will make this sport progress even quicker than it has and force the manufacturers to deliver better products to us, the consumers!

Personaly I think its going to take a KQ powertrain in a Vinny chassis to be a strong compeditor against the prarrie's, I just can't see how an IRS chassis would make a stong racer but I guess with the right suspnsion mods ect, ect it might, just have to wait and see. My interest in the KQ has never been for a sport utiliy, After riding one a week and a half ago I just didn't get a sporty feel from it either, with some serious work I supose it could be possable though.

Well Suzuki must feel the KQ will do very well in GNCC racing. They all ready have Ken Robey riding there KQ for next year's GNCC in the stock class. They feel he will de-throne Penland. They delivered his KQ's right before the race this weekend. They also have a sponsered team running in the 12hr race at the end of Oct. This should tell us how the KQ will do.

I always thought that about IRS until I raced on the East Coast Powersports team in the Maxxis 6 hours of PA on a Grizzly. We won the Utility Expert class. The Griz felt awesome and did VERY WELL in the woods. After that, I was hooked. I really believe that this IRS setup is done right. I can't wait to bolt on a set of aftermarket wheels and 6 ply tires. It should be a pretty sweet setup.
