I used one and noticed a huge difference in top end. I also noticed my gas mileage improved incredibly. I did notice a little of the low end was lost, but I also installed V force reeds which gained that back. All in all a good pipe that had a good fit and finish.

Don't waste your $$$ on FMF!!! A much better all around pipe is the Paul Turner unit.

The FMF is better than stock, but not by much!

The old gold series is probably as good as the Paul Turner. It looks almost the same as the PT so that's how to differentiate the old FMF from the new Fatty. The newer Fatty exits the motor, jogs to the left then to the right through the expansion chamber then to the left again to the stinger. This is a poor pipe and is almost exactly like the stocker.

I guess my gold series isn't old enough.... looks just like the new fatties, except it's not as fat in the dwell section.
I've heard the oldies were better, but I'm guessing they must be pretty rare.

The PT pipe has some issues also for highly modified motors, but for most folks... it's the best choice if your going to drop your hard earned $$

yea if your gonna throw down the loot for a new pipe go for the paul turner unless you find a used LRD somewhere but either PT or LRD are your best two choices

I am watching it on e-bay right now...........I need a silencer too and for the price of a new silencer I can get the pipe and silencer. My 87 500 is bone stock except for a K&N filter and .100 over bore. I'm planning on buying a a reed cage soon too
