Tire Size and Gearing For LT250R
#1
Hey all. Right now i have 13/42 gearing from 12/42 with 22X12.5X9 Spidertrax tires. I mostly ride street, trails and snow. I was looking for a good tire allaround and im thinking about the Holeshot. But they make lots of differnt, holeshot, holeshot MX, holeshot MTX and others. also in 4ply and 6ply. what is the difference and what should i get? also i want 20'' so should i bump up to a 14 tooth in front? thanks all!

If you went with 20" tires, i think your would want to go back down a tooth on the front. I have stock gearing with 20" Fast Trekkars and i really like how it is geared. I hate the tires though. I am going with 20" Razr's on my next tires because i have heard they hook up very well and are 10 bucks cheaper than the same size/ply holeshots. The ply is how hard the tires is. 2 ply usually MX tires because they are light weight and hook up better because of the softer rubber, yet they dont last as long. 6 ply is harder and doesnt puncture as easy and is usuaully an XC tire. 6 ply is alot heavier than 2 ply.

Thanks, i think im going to go with 6ply because i run in the road alot. . but in snow too... i think ill just go with 4 ply because i like a free-revving drivetrain. I have fast trekkers in the front and i like how they bite. thanks for the help.

rev hard: 13 on front is the most you want to do, dont do 14 or 15. Im not sure you could even get that to fit anyways? I raced flattrack with same size tires you have and 13 was the best.
