Red King

Congrats Pete! I'm sure you'll love it! I drove to Medford Powersports from clear down in Reno to get mine. They gave me an awesome deal too! Didn't have any reds though, just 2 yellow. Where did you go to get yours?

I second that! Travis does quite a bit of business with us Nevada folk. My family has bought three quads from him now, and I have several friends that made the trip as well. The "no sales tax" thing is a great benefit! I added it up on the way home that day. Including the expenses of making the trip gas, lodging, food, I saved over $1300 bucks over going to my local dealer!
A quick question for you though Pete. I of course got the winch for the $69 with the new King. Travis gave me the Warn 2.5 intended for the Vinson however, so I got no wiring with it. Did you get the winch deal, and if so, did you get the wiring included with yours?

I am curious. We have no sales tax nor state income tax in Alaska. When you folks talk about sales tax are you implying you have to pay it on the entire amount of the quad's purchase price?

Correct. So if I were to buy locally, I would be paying 7.25% tax on the cost of the quad, the winch, and the extended warranty. By purchasing out of state I avoid doing so and save tons of cash I can then blow on the new KQ. I'll explain.
When you purchase a vehicle from an out of state dealer, you do not pay sales tax at the dealer, you pay it at the DMV when you register your new acquired transportation. Since Nevada residents are not required to register ATVs, we do not have to pay sales tax on them when we buy out of state. Pretty slick huh?
Some local dealers make a practice of discouraging would be buyers from going out of state by telling them that the state of NV will send them a bill for sales tax if they become aware a buyer has gone out of state!

Mill8178 is 100% correct........but I would like to add this to the info in his post.....................
If you were to buy the ATV locally, and you have something to trade for it (atv, bike, etc), you would pay tax on the difference between the two. You've already paid the tax on the vehicle you're trading in (when you bought it), so that is why you would only pay on the difference.
